Research Interests

My research focuses on:

• Memory: Exploring the formation, retrieval, and distortion mechanisms of episodic memory.
• Attention: Investigating how the brain selectively attends to information and the neural correlates of selective attention.
• Emotion: Studying the profound influence of emotions on memory and decision-making processes.
• Aphantasia: Examining individual differences in cognitive abilities by comparing brain patterns in individuals with and without aphantasia.
• Perception: Understanding how the brain constructs our reality from sensory information, and how these perceptual experiences are encoded and later retrieved as memories.

Current Projects

Multimodal Memory Dataset Project

As a Ph.D. candidate in the Hutchinson Lab, I am a lead researcher on a large-scale project to develop a Multimodal Memory fMRI dataset. This comprehensive resource is designed to fuel various cognitive neuroscience studies. My work within this project focuses on two key areas:

1. Cued-Recall

I investigate how the brain processes and selectively attends to information by exploring image-word associations. My research questions within this domain include:

• Examining the relationship between brain structure and function to identify regions activated by visual versus auditory cues.
• Analyzing how different cues modulate memory pathways and impact cognitive processes.

2. Free-Recall

I study the brain mechanisms underlying memory reconstruction and reactivation. My research questions for this section are:

• Comparing brain patterns of individuals with aphantasia to those with typical visual recall.
• Investigating the neural basis of visual false memory and forgetting.
